Abstract. Parenting encompasses multiple dimensions that are shaped by social and cultural contexts. Within the Bulgarian sociocultural environment, under the influence of European globalization processes, traditional parenting models and parental behavioral stereotypes have undergone significant transformations. The aim of the present study is to identify the characteristics of positive parenting in Bulgaria through application of two questionnaires: one measuring positive parenting styles and the other one analyzing the types of activities parents engage in with their children at home. The first instrument, the “Pentagon” Parenting Model, builds upon and expands Baumrind’s conceptual framework by emphasizing the family system as a whole, rather than focusing solely on the parent-child relationship. The findings of the study highlight four core positive parenting styles within the Bulgarian sociocultural context: “Expressions of Love”, “Encouragement of Independence”, “Rule Compliance”, and “Parental Partnership”. Regarding the second questionnaire related to home-based activities, parents most frequently reported engaging in phonological games with their children, followed by creative activities and reading. The least time is devoted to literacy-related tasks and listening activities.

Key words: positive parenting styles, Bulgarian sociocultural context, parent-child interaction, home-based educational activities
