Abstract. The diagnostic requirements of the disorders of intellectual development – part of the grouping of neurodevelopmental disorders in the ICD-11, as well as the rationale for the changes and the differences with ICD-10, are presented. The innovative and clinically useful role of the introduced behavioural indicators for intellectual development (presented in an appendix) and for adaptive behaviour in the different life cycle phases are emphasized. The acquaintance with this pathology in the new classification is accompanied by phenomenological analysis and differential diagnosis.
