BODY IMAGE AND BARIATRIC/METABOLIC SURGERY

Abstract. The patients with obesity have various comorbid diseases that affect their overall health and mental well-being, and often lead to social dysfunction. In this group of patients, bariatric/metabolic surgery is one of the possible solutions to their problems. Reducing body weight leads to significant improvement in health, physical activity, and social functioning. In these patients it is necessary to monitor the dynamics of the mental state – before and after surgery, as well as to take into account changes in body image as one of the sensitive indicators.
