Abstract. The history of forensic psychiatry has shifted from millenia and has been booming during the last century. Nowadays, it has its own method and approach and makes an important contribution to society with its intedisciplinary nature. More and more developed countries have differentiated forensic psychiatry as a separate discipline and specialty. In Bulgaria this new specialty meets particular obstacle, which prevent its survival.
