PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS AND PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILES OF PEOPLE WITH EATING DISORDERS
Abstract. According to the theoretical sources and scientific research in the field of eating disorders, there is a higher degree of depression and schizoidism in persons suffering from eating disorders. The main objective of the present psychological study was to explore the presence of high levels of some personality characteristics such as depression, and schizoidism in subjects with eating disorders. The study was conducted between January 2017 and April 2019. 115 people, aged 12-57 years (M = 27 SD = 8.9), 5% males and 95% females, participated in this study. The research included only individuals with eating disorders who claimed a need for psychotherapy in connection with an eating disorder discovered by a medical practitioner. The collected data also make it possible to verify the presence of specific Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) codes, which are characterized by a high frequency of manifestation in the subjects with eating disorder.
