Abstract. Aim. This study aimed to explore the relationship between life satisfaction and romantic, familial, and social loneliness among abstinent alcoholics. Additionally, it investigated whether these forms of loneliness served as predictors of life satisfaction in this population. Subjects and methods. The research was conducted at the General County Hospital Požega between 2019 and 2020, with 118 participants included in the analysis. The study employed a demographic questionnaire, the Social Emo- tional Loneliness Scale, and the Life Satisfaction Scale. Results. The results indicated a strong negative correlation between life satisfaction and Social Loneliness and Emotional Loneliness, and a moderate negative correlation with Family Loneliness. Significant predictors of life satisfaction comprised Social Loneliness, duration of abstinence, as well as divorce, and being unmarried. Discussion. Social lone- liness and divorce have the most significant negative impact on life satisfaction, while the length of abstinence has the most substantial positive contribution. Marital status also plays a significant, albeit comparatively weaker, positive role in influencing life satisfaction among abstinent alcoholics. Conclu- sion. The implications of these results are significant for the treatment of individuals in abstinence. These findings highlight the importance of ongoing support and interventions for individuals recovering from alcohol addiction after cessation of drinking and preceding treatment.
