PFAPA syndrome – a clinical case

Abstract. An 8-year-old patient with PFAPA syndrome, with onset at the age of 1 year and 6 months is presented. The boy was diagnosed with PFAPA syndrome at 3 years and 2 months. The family has two boys aged 8 and 10. There is no evidence of a family history of mental disorders. The 8-year-old boy was consulted by a child psychiatrist for vocal and motor cs with an onset of a month and a half. After throat swab culture the presence of group A β-hemolytic streptococcus was found in both children in the family. The children were prescribed antibiotic therapy for 10 days. The patient’s tics resolved completely after the treatment.
