Abstract: The article presents the results of adaptation of the rumination-reflection scale in Bulgaria. Three items are  excluded due to low loadings. The Bulgarian scale confirms that rumination and reflection are independent and parallel processes, without being directly related to each other. Furthermore, rumination and reflection are discussed in relation to the dimensions of emerging adulthood and self-esteem. The possibilities for application of the adapted instrument which has good psychometric characteristics are described. The scale is especially useful for diagnostic and prognostic purposes when working with young people in the period of emerging adulthood.

Key words: identity, rumination, reflection, self-esteem, emerging adulthood
